Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer virtual appointments?

I currently offer virtual appointments exclusively. These appointments are conducted via phone or through Practice Better's video chat.

Do you practice in my state?

I am a board registered dietitian nutritionist and am licensed to practice in PA. As of now I can legally practice telehealth in FL, IN, WV, VA, AZ, WI, CA, CO, TX, OK, WA, WY, ID, NY, MS, VT, CT, and AK.
I will verify licensure laws (these are readily changing) before confirming your appointment.

Do you accept insurance?

I am currently in network with Cigna, Medicare, Aetna, United Healthcare and Highmark (BCBS). I can supply a superbill for clients to receive their out of network benefits from all other payers. I cannot guarantee reimbursement so it is important to call your insurance company to confirm your out of network benefits.

Can I use my FSA/HSA card?

Yes, I can process these with Square (as I would a credit card) or I can give you an itemized receipt to be reimbursed by your FSA/HSA provider if you decide to pay with cash.

What can I expect after I book?

In order to book an appointment you will need to create a sign-in with the patient portal (also known as Practice Better). After you book you will receive a confirmation email as well as forms that will need to be completed to the best of your ability before the start of our appointment.

What forms do I need to complete?

The records release form, HIPAA privacy notice, patient demographic form, financial agreement form, and nutrition intake form.
I strongly encourage filling out the nutrition intake form before our appointment to the best of your ability. Providing your primary care physician’s contact info is additionally helpful, especially if we decide you may benefit from additional lab work. It can also increase the likelihood that your insurance provider will reimburse you for the appointment.

What is your counseling and education style?

I use a combination of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (as it relates to food and nutrition related behaviors) and goal setting during our appointment. My intent is that you leave the appointment confident that the goals we choose together are a doable, reasonable and a meaningful step in improving your overall health.
As a registered dietitian nutritionist I will present you research backed diet and nutrition interventions and put them in the context of you.

What can I expect during the initial appointment?

Here we will go over the nutrition intake form, discuss your medical and food and nutrition related history as well as any other pertinent information. We will review your usual food intake and most importantly any concerns you may have. From there we will develop a plan and set reasonable, attainable and measurable goals towards your larger health objective.

Do you accept credit card?

I accept credit cards using Square which is integrated into the patient portal, also known as Practice Better. Payments can be submitted using Visa, American Express, Mastercard, JCB, or UnionPay logo. Virtual wallets such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay are also accepted.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can expect a full refund with cancellations within 48 hours. You will be charged $50 for appointments canceled within 24 hours. Tardiness past 15 minutes will continue per the discretion of the provider.
